This album is a follow-up to a record I made in 2008 called "I See Beyond the Black Sun". There was a presidential election that year as well. Pluto was just beginning his entry into the sign of Capricorn. That will mean something to some people, to others it will not.

Sometimes we are faced with such a vision of doom that the end of the entire world seems right up in view and we are but like a deer or a raccoon or a possum staring blankly at two ever brightening disks of light rapidly increasing in size.

IF Doom is approaching, it's been working its way towards us for at least five thousand years. This isn't to say that I am not alarmed or in any way free of the sense of dread and panic that most sensible people are feeling right now. I am however, willing to accept that we are indeed dangling over a precipice where everything we think we know is about to change. We really don't know exactly what comes next.

Ever since the end of February my mantra has been pretty consistent- "We are never going 'back to normal' because whatever it was we were letting ourselves call 'NORMAL' was the very problem to begin with. So I welcome and embrace a total change, but it has been painful! It is GOING to be painful! We need to do what we can to keep each other alive and resist the monstrous powers that try to force us into despair, cynicism, giving up.

I don't believe that artists or musicians have ever really occupied their rightful place in any society- as keepers of wisdom and continuity, and also as healers, dreamers, visionaries to guide us into being enveloped by and embracing whatever it is that comes next.

I also have no idea if listening to this music that I have created is going to make any difference to you in your life right now in this particular moment. I don't know if anyone will look back in ten or twenty or a hundred years and consider this or anything else I have ever done as a legitimate or appropriate response to the turmoils of the early 21st Century. That part isn't up to me. I do believe trying to present you with some kind of "ecstatic rock and roll" explosive type music, designed for performance in compact spaces full of sweaty dancing people, feels a little out of touch in this particular moment. I haven't really been drawn to listen to anything in that category for a while.

Years ago I had a conversation with an older gentleman that I met after a concert in a small basement gallery space in Paris, France that left a big impression on me. It was a wild show of the kind of free improvisational gymnastics I'm sometimes notorious for. He was complimenting the performance, but he also said something that struck me deeply- "It seems to me you wish to use your music to talk to spirits, but somehow you hold back a little because you're also giving a 'performance'- I think you should stop worrying about 'performing' altogether, and just talk to the spirits."

That was more than ten years ago, and I think about those words nearly every time I make music. I strive to talk to spirits with my breath, and hopefully allow them to speak back through the sounds I channel. I know when I miss the mark or lose focus, but if I'm giving space for the improvisation to be authentically guided from a place of BREATH I always know when I'm at least headed in the right direction.

With this album, and really with any music or art that you truly enjoy and appreciate, please consider sharing in some way. I have left a couple tracks open to downloaded for "free" and a few more that you can only listen to if you pay for the download. If you're absolutely broke please let me know and I'll give you a free download, maybe I can even help you out with a little cash. Making and sharing a post about some new music you're enjoying on your social media channels is a PRICELESS GIFT to an independent artist, it goes much much further than you might imagine.

This CDR release package is a way for you to provide a higher level of support for my new music. It's easy to download the album and burn a CDR, you can even print out the cover art. I am also happy to do it for you because it gets me a little extra income. It also doesn't make sense to mail a package with only one CDR because the minimum postage allows me to send you more stuff all in one envelope. So if you order Dragon Raga CDR you'll also get a surprise package with some cool posters and another CDR full of unreleased surprises that I won't even mention!

This book is not a book but a map of masks and a flask full of hyperspace. It's written in a language of signs and tides and when the moon is full the disappearing ink returns to its guttural forms. This is the Songbook for sing-a-longs to the Songs of Psychic Fire. This is the hallway pass to the Ayahuasca Tasting Room. This is the Chariot drawn by Dragons on the Mycorrhizal Highway.
